Overview

The Opportunity | QA and Stores Assistant (one year full-time contract) We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Avionics and Electronics department to support the introduction and production of world class products in to the aerospace industry. We hold aerospace design, production and aftermarket regulatory approvals which need rigorous quality controls in place enabling delivery of parts that are fitted straight on to commercial or military aircraft. We are committed to continuous improvement and have an established Quality Management System which provides a framework for measuring and improving our performance. In this varied role you will be involved in all aspects of quality including maintenance of company procedures, lean manufacturing, auditing and root cause corrective actions and as part of the team you be driving towards total customer satisfaction providing products and services that help meet or even exceed their expectations. Your Challenge: Liaise with and support the customer on all matters relating to quality Conduct robust root cause investigations of returned product and compile suitably detailed containment and investigation reports to send back to the customer Work with Production and Engineering to make accurate decisions on product integrity issues and the sentencing of non-conformance Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and Product Audits Identify, implement and drive quality cost reduction initiatives in line with the quality improvement plan Lead and conduct key process and product internal audits Prepare for and support third party approval audits Identify and implement improvements to close out audit non-compliances Work with the Head of Business Processes to ensure all Business Unit activities and processes comply with the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements Comply with the requirements defined by the Quality Management System In line with Company objectives and requirements Identify and eliminate obsolete, erroneous and inappropriate processes and procedures by addressing new approaches to the process structure, in order to improve the operational performance of the Company Ensure procedural compliance through the undertaking of internal audits Undertake sub-contractor vendor audit of new contractors identified through Engineering and Procurement activities Maintain the Company's Approved Supplier List through postal reviews and re-assessment audits Implement methods for review of product returns to facilitate the quick turnaround of products whilst investigating operational or product deficiencies and customer complaints Generate quality performance data for inclusion in company reports; such as the monthly Business Unit Report Your Expertise: Minimum ONC, ideally HNC qualified, in an appropriate discipline 3-5 years of relevant industry experience Experience of working in an ISO9001 / AS9100 / EASA quality environment Electronics or mechanical engineering background IT literate good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Desirable Criteria: Qualified in conducting internal company audits Basic understanding of measurement principles and techniques Six sigma or process improvement qualified or trained This position may require exposure to information which is subject to export control regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
