Front End Technical Architect required to join our Front End Architect team splitting their time between WTC initiatives and client project work. Key Responsibilities: Review of FE Standards (as defined by lead architect)– these standards cover JavaScript, CSS, HTML and accessibility. Quality Improvements – a high level of quality is maintained as part of working processes i.e. code reviews, unit testing and automated tooling such as static code analysis, accessibility and performance checking. Security Compliance – Ensuring the team are developing to the OWASP guidelines Performance Monitoring – Ensuring that all front-end code is performant and using latest techniques to achieve the highest level of performance. Working with tools to monitor and maintain performance metrics Promotion of cross-team collaboration including BE Devs/testing/DevOps/UX The role will also require the candidate to work independently across both new and existing projects and be responsible for: Enforcing and regulating our Wunderman Thompson Commerce Coding Standards Enforcing and regulating defined Workflow practices Liaising with wider Engineering team on all areas of front end architecture and ensuring this architecture is implemented and adhered to Working with DevOps to set up automated front end tooling to ensure standards, quality, security and performance are adhered to Participating in the front-end web-development project life-cycle from pitch/prototyping through definition and design to build, integration, QA and delivery Suggesting technologies and processes to enhance productivity and performance Continuing hands-on project work as deemed necessary, continuing Team Lead responsibilities if required You… Natural leader, Talented, enthusiastic, focused, eye for detail, professional. You like working in a fast-paced environment and are ready to inspire outstanding online shopper experiences for consumers and brands, no matter what product, service, sector, device or channel The goal of the Front End Architect is to design architectural solutions that provides quick and painless setup; offers useful feedback in the form of linting, tests, and documentation; and focuses on quality and re-usability The techy bit….we need: Extensive experience of hands on React development, with a solid understanding of the core concepts including recent additions i.e. Hooks, Context API Experience in building large-scale SPA web applications in a fast-moving team environment Proven track record in a lead position, responsible for mentoring where necessary Expert understanding of state management technologies/approaches i.e. Redux, Flux, Hooks/Context API Mastery of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (ES6) adhering to industry defined coding standards. Expert understanding of QA technologies and processes – Type Checking (TypeScript), TDD and unit testing, specifically what constitutes a good unit test Excellent understanding of the Agile methodology i.e. Story point estimation, refinement, sprint planning, retrospective, sprint demos. Willingness to contribute to both large, complex projects and smaller tasks as directed. Experience of using version control tooling (GIT) in a large development team performing Continuous Integration Good understanding/awareness of Usability, Accessibility, Performance, Cross Browser issues excellent communication skills and capability to interact directly with the customer (show and tells/requirement analysis sessions/retrospectives etc) Excellent problem-solving ability If you know some of this even better Experience in building rapid prototypes Solid information, interaction, and visual design skills Experience in building design systems/Atomic Design methodology Knowledge of other frameworks and libraries such as Node, Vue, Angular, NextJS Experience of implementing TDD/BDD methodology Good understanding of SEO principles including web analytics Commercial eCommerce platform experience – Magento/Hybris/IBM WebSphere/Shopify Experience of working on Java projects would be extremely advantageous Experience with Commercial Content Management Platform such as AEM Wunderman Thompson Commerce is a new global eCommerce consultancy that applies strategy, technical know-how and outstanding design to make a big impact through eCommerce.
