Overview
Temporary Designer/Drafter Ref number: 1376106 Location: St Leonards Salary: £15.00ph PRIMARY PURPOSE: Require design/drafting support for new product development and/or changes introduced to existing product within the Rugged Fiber Optics (RFO) Business within the Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) Segment. On occasion, require hands on support with preparing prototype samples for engineering or customers. RESPONSIBILITIES: To create design concepts, layouts, models and detailed drawings that are inline with company procedures and project time-scales Ability to apply and define geometric tolerance to designs and perform tolerance analysis to meet form, fit and functional requirements specified To ensure that new products are 'designed for manufacture' by using Simultaneous Engineering techniques and working closely with Production Engineering Departments To keep abreast of new technologies, materials and processes and use the information to initiate time or cost savings to enhance product To assemble prototype or first off production parts in order to develop and establish robust designs and production methods To act as the nominated Design Engineer, when assigned, to deliver the technical tasks with regards to the delivery of first product during the introduction of new products, by working closely with the assigned Project Manager Strong team player, able to foster good working relationships with other functional areas and contribute to achieving departmental targets To carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by Product Engineers or Engineering Manager To observe Heath and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation QUALIFICATIONS: ONC/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Design or Drafting or a related subject Good experience in the design and manufacture of precision engineered products Current experience and proficiency in Solidworks
