This is a fantastic time for you to join the business and be part of our journey. Your new role: We seek to recruit for an exciting role within the UK Finance Team. The role of Assistant Accountant (UK) will report to the Financial Controller. We require additional resource in our finance team due to the continued growth of the business. We are looking for a bright, numerical and ambitious individual to join the team and the role will be based around the successful candidate, utilising their skills and experience Duties and responsibilities may include (but not limited to): Assisting in preparation of monthly management accounts. Assisting with weekly operational KPI reporting and sales reporting. Preparing journals. Month end overhead analysis and preparation of accruals and prepayments. Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Involvement with online banking and payments. Assisting with maintaining the fixed asset register. Preparing and checking information on a monthly basis for inclusion in the VAT returns and for submitting Intrastat returns. Assisting in preparation of information for tax computations. Ensuring compliance with the control environment/internal audit requirements. Providing cover for other team members as necessary. Assisting in ad hoc projects and administrative duties for the finance team. As the ideal candidate you will have: Strong numerical skills. High level of computer literacy; good excel skills and experience of accounting packages, ERP system experience is preferable but not necessary. Ability to work well in a team. Proactive mentality with an eye for detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. More than 2 years' experience in a relevant finance role; FMCG experience is preferable but not necessary. Accountancy qualifications (one of more of); studying for professional accountancy qualifications/AAT qualified/relevant Finance or Accounting degree. Benefits will include: Leeming Bar is extremely accessible via the A1 and is a reasonable commute (under 1 hour) from Newcastle, Leeds, York and Teesside. £22-30,000 salary (depending upon experience / qualifications). Bonus scheme - based on company results You will be entitled to 20 days holiday per year plus the designated 8 public holidays. This entitlement will rise following one financial year's service as follows: year 1 - 1 day, year 2 - 2 days, year 3 - 2 days.
