Overview
Creative Support are looking for calm, resourceful and energetic individuals who are motivated, hardworking and keen to join our friendly team in the Durham Area. As a Support Worker you will support adults with a Learning Disability within their own home. You will develop and organise a flexible and high quality service in two of our Durham Supported Living Schemes for adults with learning disabilities; Autism and complex needs. The Schemes are situated in the Tudhoe and Newton Aycliffe areas of Durham. You will supervise and manage established teams of staff providing person centred support to enable service users to maintain their independence, experience improved wellbeing and enjoy opportunities for personal development You will provide outcome focused support to enable service users to lead fulfilling and valued lives, maintain their tenancies, participate in their local community, develop independent living skills and achieve their personal goals and desired outcomes. The supported living services operate 24/7 with waking nights. This is an opportunity for personal and career development as we offer good conditions of service and a supportive, hands-on management culture You will have the opportunity to work with our positive behaviour support practitioner team in order that we continue to deliver innovative and specialised services. You will encourage staff to take responsibility for upholding positive workplace values and building great working relationships. You must have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You will also have skills in the assessment of needs along with positive and proactive risk management so that support planning for individuals demonstrates an active and fulfilling life with an emphasis on a ‘can do’ approach. As well as providing direct support you will manage and deploy staff effectively to meet the needs of service users, taking into account their personalised schedules and activity plans.
