Overview

The client and terms of the job: Our agricultural research and commercial client require Abattoir operatives to join their team for the processing of poultry from the delivery of livestock through the entire abattoir process, encompassing live bird handling, poultry processing and finished product packaging and dispatch. This is a Temporary to Permanent role; that is after completing a successful trial period of 13 full weeks of work (487.50 hours worked) you will be eligible to be taken on permanently which our client aims to do so. Additional benefits and attractive Annual Leave package once permanent. WAGE and HOURS: £9.30 per hour. Monday to Friday dayshift only. 8am- 4pm. (37.5 hours per week) All PPE & overalls supplied. Scope: Carry out duties as directed by the Plant Manager/Team Leader. Involved with the full processing of poultry from delivery of livestock through the abattoir process to the cutting of carcases and packing of meat. Operating as part of a team to achieve team goals. Aid in the production of safe wholesome poultry meat. Ability to maintain adherence to good hygienic practices. Strict adherence to defined operating procedures. Ability to achieve and maintain personal performance targets. Ability to collect accurate and repeatable data for all clients. Training will be given to comply with various EU & domestic legislative requirements as directed by the Plant Manager/Team Leader. Including but not limited to: Health & safety Legislation, Food Hygiene Legislation, Animal Welfare Legislation, By-Products Legislation, Wrapping & Packaging Legislation. Essential Qualifications: Desirable Qualifications: There is an expectation that all post holders will work towards the below certificates during the course of early employment. Introductory HACCP Qualification. Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate. Animal Welfare Training. Experience: Experience of working in butchery, meat processing plants or a similar environment is desirable but not essential. Successful experience of working within teams so that the team goal is achieved is essential. Post recruitment, assessment of post holder must determine that they are able to work well within this environment. The post holder must use their initiative in the conduct of their work, and apply sound judgement at all times to ensure that they conduct themselves within the framework of clients’ regulations and procedures. Experience of working with knives; dexterity is essential but not experience with using sharp knives. You will be expected to stand for long periods of time for the role and should consider this before applying.
