Overview

Role : Principal Network Engineer Perm Basis - Chatham RTM are recruiting on behalf of our major Financial Services client based in their iconic offices in Chatham. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY Takes the lead on small projects for the Infrastructure engineering team, working autonomously to engage key stakeholders, ensuring all decisions satisfy risk appetite and managing controlled delivery Identify new opportunities and improvements in current practices Architect and design Network infrastructure to support the business goals and objectives while adhering to the IT architecture and Information Security principles (Loosely coupled architectures and secure by design) Provide consultation to Project Managers, Business Analysts and Managers around current processes, best practices and ideas to solve business challenges Manages costs incurred by the team and looks for ways to optimise while continuing to deliver a great customer experience. Comply with the organisations Information Security Policy, and all subordinate policies and local procedures. Protect the organisation assets in line with the requirements set out in the Acceptable Use Policy. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE, PROBLEM SOLVING & INNOVATION Embraces and drives a continuous learning culture where the development of new skills and knowledge is paramount to the success of both their and their team's roles. In particular, a focus on automation and reliability engineering Stay abreast of trends and new capabilities in the domain of Network Infrastructure Engineering and identify appropriate and effectives ways of utilising them to provide a better customer experience Work with PO's and the wider team to ensure that technical dept and service improvement activities are prioritised. Ensure clear documentation and commented code is in place for all tools/processes Quickly identifying and implementing resolutions, ensuring lessons are captured and preventative controls introduced for future deliveries INTERACTION Work closely with other Engineering teams to ensure standards and best practices are used across the teams Present analysis and proposals to other teams and various committees Get to know the wider business to better understand their goals and challenges including market activities Help maintain relationships with 3rd parties that support and enable our business to ensure we are gaining maximum value. Help consult with Information Security and Architecture teams on standards, policies and risks in relation to Network Infrastructure IMPACT Designing, delivering and supporting Network infrastructure that provides the business and our customers with a "frictionless service" Peer-review changes made by other members of the team If the above looks of potential interest and you would like to find out more about this opportunity, please apply below.
