Assistant Accountant Role - Leading Charity - Gloucester, Gloucestershire - Hays Accountancy & Finance Your new company Hays Accountancy and Finance are exclusively partnering with a leading and well-established Charity based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire to recruit for a driven and dynamic Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis. An exciting opportunity where you will provide efficient and effective financial management support services to the accounting team, working with the wider business to ensure a co-ordinated and robust approach to financial management. The position is offering progression and development where you can really add value to a successful Charity. Your new role Your key duties will involve providing financial support to the accounting teams and wider teams within the organisation to highlight financial risks and suggested mitigated actions. You will be involved in exploring budget overspends, areas of concerns and areas for improvement, along with assisting in the preparation of management accounts, accruals, prepayments and variance analysis with commentary. You will support in the preparation of financial forecasts, longer term financial planning, annual budget settings, review income and balance sheet reconciliations along with ad-hoc financial analysis, KPI reporting and performing service audits with Senior Financial Management. You will supervise Finance Assistants in the controlling and processing of bank mandates, invoicing processes, credit control and financial administration along with being involved in various projects and process/system improvement. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this progressive and hands-on Assistant Accountant role you will need experience within a similar position, ideally part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA with strong MS Excel skills and an analytical/dynamic working approach. You will be able to produce accounts to trial balance and critically review balance sheets, trained in a range of financial packages and be able to communicate at all levels; to "business partner" with various internal teams and the wider business. You will need to be able to challenge processes and procedures along with managing workloads and meeting time constraint deadlines. Any experience with Open Accounts & Sage, supervisory skills along with having a Charity sector background would be advantageous but not essential.
