Accountant - Fixed Term - 12 Months - £25,000 - £30,000 per annum - Based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading public-sector organisation based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire looking to recruit a dynamic and hands-on Accountant to support for a period of change, for a fixed term contract of 12 months. An exciting and varied accounting position supporting senior management where you can really add value and support. The position will offer flexible working hours along with a generous holiday allowance and contributed pension scheme. Your new role Your key duties will involve maintaining fixed asset register, review and updating monthly additions, running monthly depreciation and reviewing/reporting on monthly capital project costs. You will business partner with budget holders to ensure accuracy, attend monthly capital meetings, manage and reconcile the bank accounts along with managing petty cash. You will be responsible for various balance sheet accounts, post general ledger journals, assist in month-end close, provide accounting advice to internal stakeholders along with liaising with external/internal auditors to support the preparation of annual accounts. You will support senior finance management with various projects and ad-hoc duties. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this hands-on Accounting Position you will need experience within a similar role, including fixed assets knowledge with strong communication skills and the ability to meet time constraint deadlines. You will have strong MS excel skills and be trained in a range of accounting systems and be able to manage work-loads. It would be advantageous if you have worked within a public-sector organisation previously that is going through changes.
