Love singing? Going for teas, coffees, pub lunches and picnics? Reading stories and poems? Sensory groups? Visiting family and friends? Well what if I told you this could be part of your job? Working as a Support Worker for MacIntyre is more rewarding than you think. MacIntyre is an award-winning national charity supporting people with autism and learning disabilities and we’re hiring now. We have openings for both full and part-time, experienced or non-experienced Support Workers. The positions range from 15 hours per week up to 37.5 hours basic, with sleep-in support as an additional payment. This can be discussed further at interview to find out which one would suit you best Please note we require drivers with a full UK license at this service. The Role We are seeking fun-loving, caring and passionate individuals to help support people to live as independently as possible whilst providing the care and attention they need to live a life that makes sense to them. You will encourage the people we support to get involved in their hobbies and pastimes. This may include any of the above and more Maybe you've got some hobbies you'd like to introduce them to, or other ideas for day trips and activities too? You'll help us provide a relaxed and homely environment, supporting people aged from early 40s to early 60s. Some of the people we support don't have much if any verbal communication so we will help you to pick up small non-verbal cues. You will discover that every tiny thing you do has an impact. When you get it right, you’ll know you got it right: you’ll get a chuckle or a smile; you’ll see someone’s body relax or their eyes light up. Some people also require help with intimate care and medication. You will take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, some sleep ins, alternate weekends and bank holidays. You don't need experience as we provide full training and day-to-day support. What's important is that you share our values, have a positive approach and are willing to learn. The work is demanding and it’s not for everyone but the ultimate reward is the heart-felt feeling of being able to see the positive impact you're able to have on another person's life and this is something you'll never forget.
