Category Buyer - Warrington

I am working with a reputable manufacturing company in the Warrington area who are looking to recruit a Category Buyer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading global business who are the go-to supplier for a number of OEM’s and are among the top 5 suppliers globally. The business have been established for over 75 years and have grown significantly in that time, developing a number of sites across both Europe and North America. You will form part of a team of 4 and will be tasked to strategically develop incumbent suppliers as well as sourcing new supply which can add value to the business. You will also have tactical responsibility over a defined category of suppliers and will work closely with them to further develop the relationship. As the business are global and take on multiple new projects each year you will continue to have fresh challenges and opportunities in both the UK and abroad to progress and develop your career. Day to day activities to include : Driving cost reduction initiatives across the supply chain by focusing on identifying cost down opportunities with current and new suppliers. Identifying, sourcing, tendering and contract writing for new suppliers. Strategic development of incumbent suppliers including adding value to their own supply chain process and strategy. Action Purchasing orders from BOM’s supplied by Engineers. Working with suppliers to ensure KPI’s are achieved and maintained. Identifying, planning and implementing continuous improvement opportunities across the department. Managing and reviewing supplier quality issues. Management of RFQ processes. Ownership of supplier selection, risk mitigation and supplier onboarding. Working cross-functionally with all areas of the business including group interfacing. Managing multiple ongoing projects across the business. Reporting on project governance to key internal and external stakeholders. Essential Requirements : 5 Years Purchasing experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment To have tendering, contract management and supplier sourcing experience - Expertise in the Far East would be a benefit. To have experience in the contract writing from scratch. To be able to display proven cost savings and the ability to identify and implement process improvements. To be experienced with use of MRP systems and Excel. This role will pay an attractive salary and the full package attached will be discussed upon application.
