Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer required for our client who have specialised within the Air Conditioning industry for over 30 years and are now looking for a Design Engineer to join their successful and expanding team. The most successful candidate should be based in either Hampshire, Kent or Surrey. The location of the projects can vary but most are below the Manchester - Leeds M62 corridor. Current projects are in Bristol, Southampton, Oxford and a number in London / Home counties. The successful mechanical design engineer will require to have at least 10 years' experience in all aspects of mechanical building services including ventilation, heating, domestic services, air conditioning, chillers. Primary client base is Healthcare related. Position will be primarily be office based on a daily basis but visits to site for surveys and meetings will be required. Please note this can be countrywide. Projects designed from conception will be handed to a project manager and that team will continue together until completion and handover of the project. Any design related issues throughout the project will be dealt with by the design engineer. Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview Able to size ductwork, heating and domestic pipework, select plant such as pumps, boilers, fans, including calculating pressure drops in ductwork and pipework. Competent in calculating building heat losses and gains to select air conditioning units using AC Calc software Competent in AutoCAD. Whilst some drawing work will be required, the majority of the drawings will be produced by others Be able to produce technical submissions and compile design specifications for issuing to client. Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements At least 10 years minimum related experience within mechanical building services Experience of AutoCAD and AC Calc software Experience with NHS HTM specifications would be an advantage Mechanical Engineering degree /HND/C (Advantageous) Understanding of Building Regulations requirements and industry standard specifications such as CIBSE, BESA and Water Regulations The ability to carry out site surveys is essential Mechanical Design Engineer Position Remuneration Salary £45K - £55K Dependent on experience 22 days Holiday per annum bank holidays Company Pension scheme available Car allowance Reimbursement of company related mileage Bennett & Game Recruitment are acting as a Recruitment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
