Overview

We have a unique opportunity to join the University in the specialist role of Pensions Officer. The successful candidate will become a vital member of the small pensions team, who are responsible for providing a comprehensive pension service to all members of the University’s pension schemes. You will be expected to liaise, build relationships and communicate with a wide range of University staff with the ability to explain pension options within various scenarios relevant to the appropriate scheme. You will provide sufficient information for colleagues to be able to make an informed decision and provide guidance in making choices throughout their pension journey. You will communicate with tact and discretion on a regular basis with internal and external colleagues along with members of the schemes. You will lead on the delivery of a first class administrative service across all 6 University pension schemes and have the latitude within your daily work routine to organise and prioritise your own work, to ensure that key deadlines and objectives are met. You will be expected to exercise sound judgement and demonstrate initiative in terms of ensuring that the pension and administrative requirements of the department are implemented effectively and that they are maintained in accordance with standards set by the pension schemes and the University policy and procedures. You will be expected to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge both within the schemes, pensions legislation and HMRC regulations and have the ability to work both independently and as part of the team. Person Specification A qualified Pensions Administrator (QPA/CPC/DPA) qualification/equivalent or relevant experience in occupational pension schemes is essential.
