Job Type: Part-time |

Overview
Start Date: Immediate Pay: n/a TKAT Thanet Joint Local Governing Body (JLGB) Three vacancies have become available for skilled volunteers to join an executive group overseeing the governance of five Thanet primary schools: Dame Janet (Ramsgate), Drapers Mills (Margate), Newlands (Ramsgate), Northdown (Margate) and Salmestone (Margate). The five schools are part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT). The JLGB comprises a number of independent, appointed governors plus the headteachers of the five schools and the Regional Executive Director of TKAT East. The JLGB is a strategic group that meets three times a year at one of the five schools. The key issues for 2019-20 are: leadership at all levels; attendance and well-being of pupils and staff, and the attainment of vulnerable groups including SEND and the More Able. These are major elements of the School Development Plans in each of the five schools this year. Essential skills of governors are the ability to work as port of a team, a commitment to collective responsibility and the ability to think strategically. Governors provide an external perspective and an ability to challenge assumptions and look for the best solutions. As a governor you will bring your enthusiasm, experience and expertise to effectively support the headteachers and staff. It is also a great way to support the local community and improve the lives of young people. If you are interested in offering your time and interest in the education of young people, please contact me and I will arrange a meeting to discuss our work and for you to ask any questions that you will undoubtedly have about the role. Roger Silk (Chair, Joint Local Governing Body) Closing Date: 05/04/2020 at 13:00 Interviews: TBC Information about the school ‘Creating Excellence Together’ is what we strive to do at Dame Janet Primary Academy. Serving the children of Ramsgate on two sites, with extensive grounds used for sports and forest school Dame Janet is really worth finding out more about. Under the new, tougher national curriculum and assessments over the last two years the school has achieved above the national average in attainment and the children have made progress that was significantly above the national average. Throughout the school, children enjoy a challenging but fun curriculum that prepares them well. In the early years of nursery and reception, children enjoy a good start to their education, as recognised by Ofsted. From their earliest days to their last in Year Six, the children make good progress and experience imaginative topics that they have helped to shape. Children have travelled through time, been to outer space, explored the wonders of the ancient world and fought off monsters in the guise of superheroes; all the while working with their hands, using technology and experiencing learning in different environments. Dame Janet is a school for everyone. Supportive and skilled staff nurture and develop children to find what they are excellent at whether it’s in the classroom, on the sports field, as part of the choir or as an actor working with the Royal Shakespeare Company in its Associate Schools Programme. The leadership team are passionately committed to giving pupils a wide range of real-life and enriching experiences and through these the children have gone off to the secondary school of their choice prepared and ready to create more excellence. Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children.
