Stakeholder Engagement Manager – Energy Circa £40,000 Fixed Term until March 2021 Stevenage, Hertfordshire We are looking for a stakeholder and government engagement professional with a keen interest in engineering and technology to develop, articulate and implement strategic direction for one of the IET’s key topics – Energy. This role will be known internally as ‘Energy Lead’ We are the IET and we inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world. It’s why we are uniquely placed to champion engineering. As the Energy Lead you will act as a lead for the IET’s thought leadership and charitable purpose activity within the Energy area. This will include working with high-profile stakeholders, acting as a champion and key point of contact, maintaining a good knowledge of the key trends, and acting as a spokesperson on profile raising activity. You will maintain and establish new relationships for the IET, using your negotiation and persuasion skills to increase the overall impact of your work. You will be joining the Strategic Engagement and Partnership (SEP) team who support the delivery of the IET’s charitable activity within the global engineering community. The team, and your role within it will be to, inspire innovation, inform the public and influence government. This is delivered through a range of outputs such as government engagement, stakeholder events, reports, videos, consultation responses, blog posts, website material, media and social media engagement. If you are keen to join the IET Family, we look forward to hearing from you soon Day to Day Responsibilities (summary) Act as a Lead for the IET’s thought leadership and charitable purpose activity within the Energy area, include acting as a champion and key point of contact, maintaining a good knowledge of the key trends, and acting as a spokesperson on profile raising activity. Establish new relationships for the IET and use negotiation and persuasion skills to increase the overall impact of their work. Organisation of volunteer panels including meeting organisation, room and food bookings, minutes, and agendas. The Lead will also take primary responsibility for panel recruitment and composition. Deliver on a series of Topics aimed at generating impact and addressing the overall outcomes of inspiring innovation, informing the public and influencing government Contribute to cross-cutting activity between the panels, by working with colleagues on cross-cutting topics which meet the outcomes and outputs described above. Comply with departmental processes including Monthly reporting on KPIs, contribution to team meetings, responsibility for budget within their areas, formal consultation processes, volunteer registers, and financial processes. Key Skills Educated to degree level or equivalent with an interest in engineering/technology/business and knowledge of the current commercial/industrial/social/political world Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and motivate at all levels and to establish credibility with senior figures from industry, academia and government Ability to use own initiative whilst demonstrating collaborative working across the wider team and stakeholders. Proven ability to be part of an effective team. Sound organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Strong analytical skills and ability to assimilate complex information quickly An interest in, and knowledge of working with one or more of: Academia; Government, Industry. Experience and interest in the Energy Environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to a range of audience. The ability to operate in an agile, matrix-working environment. Project management skills with the ability to manage projects that span multi-disciplinary areas of differing size and complexity to meet business expectations and deliver results. High level of IT literacy. Willingness to attend the London office and travel to other national, and occasionally international, locations as the needs of the role and the development of the portfolio requires An understanding of strategy development and implementation.
