Overview

Working with the other Mangers and reporting to the Partners, this position is designed to provide a high level of service to various audit clients. The main purpose of the role is to ensure compliance with GAPP and practical guidance is provided on regulatory matters such as tax and VAT regulations, requirements of UK law and the principles of good governance. You will be responsible for your own portfolio of clients and will be responsible for the management, training and development of the audit and accounts team. Main Duties and Responsibilities Proactive planning and management of audits and client work. To lead the planning process and ensure planning meetings are held with clients, where appropriate To maximise staff utilisation To supervise and assist junior team members To delegate and review work of junior team members; including audit files, draft documentation, accounts and corporation tax computations Liaison with and dealing with client queries, as well as agreeing time and financial budgets To attend client meetings Ensure client engagement documentation is up to date Drafting of client invoices and to chase outstanding invoices Regular review of client WIP and debtor To assist in the preparation of proposals for new work To act as a mentor for junior team members and provide day to day training Attendance at marketing events To conduct mid-year and annual appraisals Planning and executing the longer term strategy of the department along with the departmental partner To be involved in the recruitment process of new staff To undertake a range of special or one off projects to assist with the development of the practice Managing a team to ensure the efficient preparation of accounts for a variety of small clients Carry out review work on accounts and other assignments prepared by team members Delegate analysis work to more junior staff and monitor progress, including reviewing work once complete Travelling to client premises as required and to deal with clients in a professional manner either in person, telephone or by email Providing advice to owner managers on both business and personal matters Assisting the departmental manager with providing feedback to team members as well as assistance with conducting appraisals Requirements Qualified at either ACA/ACCA Experience of working in practice and Audit Experience of working with various accounting packages Experience of charity and academy audit and SRA Accounts Rules reviews To be highly competent in Microsoft Office - particularly Excel To be proficient in the use of specialist audit, accounts preparation and tax software To demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external clients To demonstrate the ability to make decisions, solve problems and take appropriate action To understand the link between effective performance management and business results Demonstrates a clear knowledge and understanding of performance standards, quality control procedures and office procedures Ability to deal confidently and positively with poor and underperformance issues Ability to adapt leadership style for different team members Ability to identify high calibre candidates and to be competent at interviewing To demonstrate an understanding of employment legislation, especially the Equality Act Ability to prioritise workload in order to achieve client accounting deadlines, as well as other day to day work To demonstrate good timekeeping skills as well as displaying a professional attitude in all aspects of their work To actively participate in team meetings making a wide range of suggestions To be considered for this role please apply direct.
