Proactive Personnel are proud to be representing an esteemed Law Firm in Shrewsbury who require the assistance of a Legal Secretary within the Crime Team. As a Legal Secretary for our client your duties will include; To provide Legal Secretarial and Administrative Support to the Crime Team To be responsible for all billing (including Legal Aid) within the Team To act as a point of contact between Fee Earners and clients Opening of files and associated administrative tasks General administration of documents including scanning and photocopying as required Preparation of correspondence from digital dictation Preparation of other required documentation such as court bundles as required To file correspondence and other relevant documents with clients files (both hard and soft copy) To manage billing (private and legal aid) on behalf of all Fee Earners within the Team to include preparation of all Magistrate and Crown Court claims and submission of these claims using appropriate documentation and liaising with Legal Aid Agency as required To manage diaries for all Fee Earners within the Team and book in day to day appointments To manage and book travel requirements File closing and archiving in line with the firm’s procedures The successful candidate will require; Good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above to Maths and English (or equivalent) Minimum of 12 months experience in a Legal Secretarial/administration/support role Previous billing experience and a sound knowledge of the legal aid portal, crown court billing system and criminal digital system Experience of using a digital dictation system High level of numeracy Excellent keyboard and typing skills and the ability to produce documents to a high standard Sound IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft packages - Excel in particular Ability to prioritise workload within a busy and demanding environment Accuracy and a very high standard of attention to detail Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) The ability to deal with the potential emotional demands of the role and clients The ability to deal with potentially distressing information including images Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and deal with multiple tasks effectively Team oriented with a flexible, can do attitude The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure Benefits our client is offering; Free Parking Commutable from; Shrewsbury
