Oracle DBA & Middleware Consultant Milton Keynes or London To £65K plus extensive benefits package Position summary: Our client delivers cutting-edge solutions into financial services clients across the UK and is looking to appoint an Oracle DBA/Middleware consultant. Working within a vibrant team on multiple clients, this offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within the organisation and allows the opportunity to share innovative ideas to deliver excellence, plus train and develop in the latest technologies. This role and candidate can be based in either Milton Keynes or London but requires someone with flexibility to travel to other offices or client sites. Job role responsibilities: Working within the Database and Middleware Services team, the successful candidate will help design, implement, support and offer consultancy across a range of Database and Middleware technologies, with a particular focus on cloud-technologies. Core tasks include installation, configuration, performance tuning, cyber-security, etc., and can also involve aspects of DevOps, Agile development, consulting and supporting bids. The role will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to develop their career whilst working collaboratively with other members of the business and customers across a range of projects. Due to the varied nature of the role, relevant cross-training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate a good depth and breadth of technical expertise, working across Databases, Middleware and Cloud Platforms. Required qualifications for this role: The successful candidate will demonstrate a selection of skills across: Oracle and Oracle Middleware Database Administration (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) Middleware technologies (e.g. IBM Websphere, Oracle Weblogic, Tomcat, JBOSS) Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud) Desirable skills include: Ideally having worked with API’s Any particular expertise in Oracle Exadata, RAC, DataGuard, EBS and across domains such as cyber-security, cloud-provision, performance tuning would be beneficial Experience in deploying DB instances within a DevOps model is highly desirable Candidate with experience in working in a CI/CD environment will be preferred The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator and enjoy working collaboratively, with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to their work. You will need to be comfortable with working autonomously and be tenacious, quality-driven and with great attention to detail. Knowledge of ITIL principals, analytical skills and problem-solving ability would also be useful.
