Locomotive fitter

Samuel Knight International are currently looking for a number of motivated and accomplished Locomotive Fitters in Peterborough. As an accomplished fitter with experience in either HGVs, Heavy Plant, Military, Aerospace or Rolling Stock you will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance and fault finding on Locomotives, components and equipment, ensuring contract maintenance and engineering projects are delivered successfully, on time and within budget. Experience and Knowledge Required: At least 5 years’ experience of maintenance, repair and fault finding on Rolling Stock/ Locomotives/ Military Vehicles/ Aircraft/ HGV or Heavy Plant Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent experience BTEC National Certificate /ONC in Engineering Must have proven experience working with diesel engineering technology & associated systems Ability to make sound engineering decisions. Good communication skills, written and oral. Personal Qualities Required: A desire to achieve excellent performance, job satisfaction & longevity from this permanent position A positive and enthusiastic self-starter with a willingness to develop A proactive approach to safe working & promoting company health and safety policies An all-round team player with the ability to support colleagues when needed Key Responsibilities: Maintain, service, fault find and repair all Locomotives in accordance to maintenance plans. Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly. Ensure all work is completed in line with the company policies and regulations. Attend all team meeting and safety briefings.
