Job Description Education, Leisure and Housing Papdale Halls of Residence Assistant House Parent (Ref: ORK04044) 16 hours per week for 39 weeks of the year £20,054 to £22,904 / £23,243 to £24,495 (including Distant Islands Allowance) salary effective from the 1 April 2020 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated care professional to provide additional support to the current care team at Papdale Halls of Residence. Papdale Halls of Residence is a registered service, regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate. Papdale Halls of Residence provides accommodation and support for secondary school pupils from both the North and South Isles to enable them to complete their education at Kirkwall Grammar School. Papdale Halls staff team support up to seventy resident pupils. Residents at Papdale Halls are encouraged to express themselves as individuals, develop social skills and emotional maturity whilst receiving appropriate support to enable every individual to reach their full academic potential. This is a varied role which will assist in the provision of high quality person-centred care to residents within Papdale Halls of Residence, in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedure. The post holder will support the development and wellbeing of young people, including those with additional support needs. To be successful you should hold relevant qualifications to meet the registration requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council as a worker in school care accommodation for example SVQ3 in Health and Social Care and HNC in Social Care, or be prepared to achieve this within 3 years of appointment. You must also register with SSSC within 6 months of appointment. You will have Experience of working with children and families/carers and / or working in a relevant position with vulnerable service users. In addition you should be able to communicate with and relate to young people. The post requires a flexible attitude and the ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the job.
