Overview
We have a new opportunity for an experienced Gardener to join the London Borough of Islington. Contract: Temporary, ongoing Hours: 35 hours, 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pm Your duties will include: Carry out general cleansing, waste management, grounds maintenance and park keeping duties as directed by supervisor Undertake safely the collection of all types of waste; cleansing of streets or parks and open spaces Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking Ensure a safe environment for staff and clients by adhering to safety and health regulations To support ways of working to improve recycling, waste minimisation and maintenance of parks The successful candidate will have: At least 6 months experience as a gardener, loader, sweeper or grounds maintenance operative The ability to carry out repeated moderate and heavy lifting and sweeping activities The ability to adopt safe working practices, and to have a working knowledge of health and safety regulations Willingness to work evenings and weekends on a shift pattern including early and late shift Experience using the following machines - Hedgecutters, pedestrian mowers, back pack blowers, strimmers If you have the relevant experience, please apply today
