Purchasing Lead - Job Description · Responsible for placing purchase orders and managing the ordering and inventory management · Issuing RFQ’s, Enquiries, reviewing prices · To be the go-to person during management absence, supporting current buyers with troubleshooting activities and when needed initiating corrective actions · Generates and reports on status of all live projects this including identifying key milestones, risks, corrective actions and solutions · Identify cost saving/cost reduction opportunities · Conduct negotiations on contracts and orders with suppliers to obtain a full range of services from a limited number of suppliers. · Manage and maintain supplier order books in line with MRP requirements Purchasing Lead - Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications required: · Extensive knowledge and working experience of supply chain processes and principles within a complex/precision manufacturing environment · Widespread experience of working with MRP systems · Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification or equivalent Purchasing Lead - Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications required: · Familiarity with defence standards and accreditations · Experience of working with and implementing lean manufacturing tools/techniques · Engineering qualifications
