Overview
Supplier Quality Engineer Location Northampton I am recruiting for a global technology business that delivers high performance engine and electronics solutions for customers in the automotive and motorsport sectors. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join their Quality team as a Supplier Quality Engineer. Supporting the new project team, the Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing quality processes for the project in conjunction with customer requirements, then ensuring supply base achieve all project quality deliverables on time and to the correct standard. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in adapting, as required, existing quality processes to develop a project specific set of quality processes which meet all customer requirements. Ensure these requirements are communicated, understood and agreed by potential vendors at quote stage. Identify and audit potential new vendors to support the project material requirements. These vendors are likely to be across Europe and potentially North America so significant travel is expected during the early phases of the project. Using clear data, develop recommendations for supplier nomination for sign off by Manage vendor surveillance and auditing throughout lifecycle of project to ensure overall project plan is supported. Ensure parts are delivered by vendors to meet material required dates through the pre-production phases of the project Ensure all component parts are PPAP approved to the appropriate level agreed. Develop the incoming inspection control plan through the pre-production phases of the project. Manage concession process between vendors and the Engineering team React to supplier non-conformances during assembly process. SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTER The successful candidate will be: Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Developing good professional working relationship both internally and externally in the supply base is critical to achieving success in this role. Must be a highly organised and self-motivated individual, capable of managing multiple tasks to required timescales. In depth knowledge of quality tools and processes, along with a proven track record of applying such to meet customer requirements. High level of attention to detail, including meticulous record keeping. Experience of quality in powertrain manufacturing is required - within a marine environment desired although not essential. Flexibility is essential as a high percentage of time in the role will be travelling.
