Transport Planning Manager
Overview
Job Description Role Overview Wincanton are now recruiting for a Transport Manager for our EDF contract based in Bridgwater. This is a key role that is central to the successful delivery of this prestigious contract. The Transport Manager will be responsible for the daily formulation of the transport plan and the effective scheduling of own and sub-contracted deliveries in to Hinkley Point C (HPC) to ensure all KPI’s are met and local delivery rules are adhered to. The Transport Manager will become the Wincanton contract expert on the client Delivery Management System (DMS). The role reports directly to the Operations Manager. Key responsibilities will include: Safety, Health, Environment and Security: Leading a Zero Harm safety culture Working with the contract Compliance Manager on implementation and maintenance of contract specific policy and procedures Attending Wincanton Transport Conferences to develop HSE understanding Attending and presenting at location safety meetings on a routine basis Carrying out checks and safety observations on vehicles / drivers on site Completing and recording a site and office safety tour on a monthly basis Maintaining relevant Health & Safety and performance notice boards Holding toolbox talks, ensuring all drivers and direct reports are captured and that sign offs are completed Recording near miss reporting and feedback to drivers Driver Management : Daily briefing / debriefing of drivers as applicable Communicating / liaising with Drivers Managing the client / driver relationship Tachograph management. Including tacho vs timesheet checks Maintaining the FTA Vision website for Compliance Ensuring all tachograph infringements are debriefed with drivers Controlling and authorising driver weekly timesheets Accident/Incident Management: Responding and reporting according to Wincanton policy Undertaking investigations and the analysis of incidents / accidents Ensuring all accidents / incidents / Near Misses are reported on RIVO Safeguard and client systems Assisting the contract Compliance Manager in closing out the above General Administration: Booking, cancelling and amending delivery slots on the HPC DMS Costing opportunities and presenting accurate invoices to commercial team Identifying items for procurement. Filing of timesheets and vehicle documents Management of compliance boards to ensure service arrangements are up to date on all fleet at all times Maintaining fleet compliance - with guidance of CPC holder if applicable Production of specific reports for Line Management Attend KPI reviews where required to report on departmental performance Any other reasonable duties as requested by your Manager The Person: Committed, energetic and flexible A CPC in road transport operations is strongly preferred but not essential Driver focused, with the ability to engage at all levels Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety legislation Excellent PC Skills (Microsoft Office essential) Prepared to be flexible in working time arrangements to suit delivery profile We really value our people and offer a friendly working environment, a focus on developing your skills and a competitive salary.
