Overview

Here at The Richmond Fellowship Scotland we are currently looking to recruit a community based Support Practitioner for our Community Rehabilitation service which works in partnership with NHS D&G to deliver specialist support & advice to people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and their families within their own homes. Applicants must be drivers with use of a vehicle as this is a community post. Our Support Practitioners are fully trained by our excellent and award-winning learning & development team prior to starting, which initially consists of three classroom-based sessions as well as the opportunity to shadow current Support Practitioners in their day-to-day role. After this initial training there will always be opportunities to further your learning during your time with TRFS. As such, to apply for this vacancy you would require no previous experience in the Care sector. The Richmond Fellowship Scotland provides personalised and outcome-focused support to over 2800 individuals either in their own homes, shared accommodation or care home environments across Scotland, making us the country`s largest provider of social care. We support individuals with a variety of different needs such as physical and/or learning disabilities, mental health, alcohol or substance abuse and autism. Some of the people we support can present challenging behaviour or require a high level of personal care. Moving & handling will be a part of this role. We can offer either Part-Time (Various hours) or Bank (Ad Hoc) contracts depending on our requirements at the time. As a Support Practitioner you could be expected to work weekends, shift patterns, and on-call if required. slee povers are not currently needed in this service. Your responsibilities will depend on the needs of the individuals that you support and can include: -Social Support- Assisting individuals to engage with their communities by planning and attending outings to various clubs and leisure activities such as day centres, bowling, cinema, swimming etc. -Practical Care- Helping people to maintain their tenancy by encouraging daily household tasks such as general housework, laundry, ironing, cooking, shopping. -Financial Care- Paying bills, attending meetings with the bank or relevant authorities, potentially handling an individual`s income. - Medical and Personal care are less likely to feature in this specific post although can be a requirement where needed.
