Overview

Creative Support is a national, fast growing, not-for-profit organisation providing support to individuals with a wide range of needs. We are committed to providing responsive, person centred care which promotes the independence, wellbeing and social inclusion of the people we support. The Children and Young People’s Safer Space is an innovative and exciting service which provides children and young people who are in mental health crisis or emotional distress with a safe and supportive evening and overnight service in a homely, non-clinical setting. You will work together with young people, building rapport, supporting de-escalation of distress and offering diversionary activities to promote positive mental health, self-soothing and ongoing self care. Your role will include welcoming young people to the service, offering food and drink and providing appropriate activities, such as arts and crafts, listening to music, watching movies, playing computer games and cooking. You will have responsibility for managing risk and promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of all young people who visit the service. The service operates 17:00 to 10:00 Monday to Friday and 22:00 to 10:00 Saturdays and Sundays. We are open 365 nights a year. Each shift is staffed by a minimum of two workers. If you have excellent interpersonal skills and are supportive, proactive, responsible, good at de-escalating crisis and listening to others then we would like to hear from you. Experience of working in the care and support sector is preferred; however, if you are a student who has recently completed a relevant qualification and you share our drive, values and passion for helping young people with mental health needs, then we would also like to hear from you.
