Overview
As a non-operational (office based) engineer you will specialise in the design of substations energised at up to 132,000 volts, preparing detailed project-specific designs/drawings/specifications and schedules. These designs would relate to both the physical attributes of substations and also the control systems therein. You will study for the foundation degree at Aston University and so you will be required to undertake placements in Birmingham for up to 2 weeks at a time during the first 2 years. Accommodation and travel costs will be provided. The Ideal Candidate You must have or be predicted to gain: o 2 ‘A’ levels – 1 in Maths (Grade C or above) and 1 in Physics (Grade D or above) or o HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or o Degree in Maths, Physics or Electrical/Electronic Engineering If you are also ambitious and committed, you can earn while gaining career-building skills, knowledge and qualifications in an established and innovative industry. Over the five-year scheme, you’ll benefit from training at our Taunton or Tipton Training Centres, along with managed office or field-based experience as part of a local team to put your new skills into practice. You’ll also undertake placements across our service areas and be supported to achieve a foundation degree in Electrical Engineering.
