Prison Escort (OSG)

HMP Exeter are looking to add additional Escorts to their growing team. Mon - Fri 37h per week Overview of the positions: As a supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit 28 Operational Support Grades (OSGs) for HMP Exeter, Devon. Immediate starts, if you are already Prison Cleared. Purpose of the OSG role: As part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of NOMS are on site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment. Devon Prisons have an excellent reputation as busy local prisons. Radio operation & handling Supervision of visitors & contractors on site Contractor Tool checks Patrolling perimeter and grounds Health & Safety Procedures Routine administrative work Experience: No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role. The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, Building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others. Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate. Security Clearance required: Immediate start if you are already Prison Cleared. All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 4 weeks, this can include a DBS check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address.
