Maritime Systems Engineer 12 Months Corsham Job description/Person specification: The MEP Technical Liaison will support the New Style of IT (Deployed) (NSoIT(D)) project providing maritime environmental technical engineering advice and support. The key responsibilities of the role include: Providing technical engineering support and guidance to the Maritime Equipment Project (MEP) team and Maritime Integration Team (MIT) to ensure understanding of the NSoIT(D) solution and advice on trade off options. Providing technical engineering advice specific to the maritime environment into the NSoIT(D) Solution Design Authority and Engineering, to ensure that any maritime specific requirements are understood, and assist in the design and development of the solution to meet those requirements. Providing the liaison function between the MEP and MIT teams and Solution Engineering team allowing productive interchange of ideas, issues and solutions. Acting as Engineering's representatives at maritime environment meetings and working groups. Supporting the MEP and MIT teams at external meetings and workshops, including the Joint Stakeholder Workshop and sub Capability Integration Working Group. Supporting the identification, establishment, and analysis of the customer requirements, including identifying errors, omissions, or opportunities. Producing and maintaining high level system design for the maritime solutions, to facilitate productive communications between Engineering and other teams such as MEP, and Test. Maintaining a technical briefing pack, to ensure that a consistent, complete and correct view of the solutions that can be briefed to stakeholder communities at any time. Providing technical input to risk reviews. Providing technical leadership to technical studies. Providing technical input to and reviewing the output of other teams. Producing derived requirements for inclusion in Statements of Work, where tasks are sub-contracted. Essential skills, qualifications, and experience oSystem level requirements management and design of fielded ICS or mission systems in the maritime environment. Engineering of secure ICS or mission systems at a systems level, including the following to enable integration: Communications equipment and protocols. Computing equipment and software. Electrical, mechanical, thermal and wireless engineering, as it pertains to military communications and computing equipment. Networks as applied to maritime environment (INE, SNI, SI, Fibre ring) Delivering against high pressure timelines and in complex organisations. Writing technical requirements and producing high level solution options. Defining evaluation criteria against SWaPE, performance, cost and time requirements and conducting associated Product Selections. The Defence Lines of Development. The Engineering development and proving life cycle. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas. Competency in MS Office Suite, including Visio. Experience of working within the public sector, preferably Defence Desirable skills, qualifications, and experience Experience of at least one ICS or mission system development project that was developed and delivered to field, at (as a minimum) Initial Operating Capability. Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence) to record and document work. Experience of working with Scrum in an Agile or Scaled Agile (e.g. SAFe) DevOps environment. A Computer Science university-based education at Bachelors or Masters level. Registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer.
