Overview

The Task: Templeton & Partners is currently looking for an experienced data engineer with strongMicrosoft Azure experiences. Initial contract towards end of this year, based in central London. • Accountable for data engineering best practices • Work together with the Solution and Data Architect to design the next generation of data platforms. • Design and implement data solutions which supports high amounts- and velocity of data, supports future growth, use latest data technologies/techniques, is cloud supported and in-line with company strategies. • Design and implement modern data pipelines to extract, clean and process data in batch and real-time from different data sources. • Use the latest development, testing and deployment techniques to quickly deploy new releases to e.g. deploy new data pipelines and add data sources. • Help establish best practices around data governance, data security- and privacy (GDPR). • Drives and applies Agile Framework within his/her operating environment. Will take direct reports, when applicable, through Agile Framework and its respective tools Personal Attributes: • Adaptable to change, versatile and pragmatic • Uses best practice development techniques but can change approach according to conflicting timelines/risks involved • Comfortable talking to trading business users and can translate business needs into tangible IT deliverables • Keeps up-to-date knowledge with recent IT software developments (open source and cloud in particular) • Uses initiative and owns end-to-end solution delivery • Brings creative and innovative ideas to the table, is inquisitive and excited by new technology • Proactively communicates and shares understanding and experience within a team • Used to working in a flexible, independent manner on a mixture of small unstructured and large structured items ACCOUNTABILITIES The Senior Data Engineer will report into the Senior Application Delivery Lead • Commercial Awareness - Influence on programme scope of $USD 3M • Stakeholder management – typically works within cross-functional teams. • Strong collaboration skills to ensure teams are all working towards the same goals. • Highly customer focused and fast paced environment. • Passion to lead others directly and indirectly into the new Data Engineering career development Technical Skills and Experience : Essential: • Previous data engineering experience (3-4 years) • Experience with Microsoft Azure • Flexibility on tools (inc Alteryx, Data Factory, Databricks, SQL, Python) • Data modelling/data warehousing solutions • Data visualisation tools and technologies Desired: • Experience with API • Familiar with DevOps approach, SharePoint, VSTS This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89797803
