Post Covid Permanent positions with QuEST Global within the UK Defence sector. QuEST are actively recruiting Engineers to join our business for when we reopen our co-located office in Edinburgh. We have a Permanent vacancy for a Lead Mixed-Signal engineer to provide services to one of our major UK clients. You will be responsible for design, commissioning and test of mixed-signal electronics hardware, i.e. Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCA’s) on complex systems. Job Responsibilities: ·Creating high-quality and robust mixed-signal electronics designs ·Documenting and recording deliverables ·Supporting integration & verification activities at hardware and system level ·Keeping designs under configuration control ·Providing progress reports ·Providing guidance to and mentoring of other QuEST Mixed-Signal hardware engineers Skills, Qualifications and Experience required: Essential ·Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or other STEM-based subject ·Extensive experience of designing circuits using DDS, PLL, ADC, DAC and / or other low-noise, mixed-signal devices ·Relevant experience in the Aerospace, Military or Defence industry, ideally in Radar or other RF systems ·Expert in schematic capture using Mentor Graphics or similar tools ·Significant experience of circuit simulation using Matlab and Analogue/ Mixed Signal simulation tools such as AMS/ PSpice/ LT Spice (Analog Devices)/ TINA (Texas) ·Experience of supervising/ mentoring other mixed-signal hardware engineers, planning and managing work for yourself and a small team, and coaching more junior engineers ·Experience of PCB layout, working closely with and providing guidance to PCB layout engineers for critical mixed-signal circuitry Ability to analyse system requirements and derive detailed hardware requirements ·Experience of hardware requirements capture and requirements management tools Experience of debugging & testing new designs and formal verification of hardware requirements Previous experience of the full hardware design lifecycle, presenting designs for peer/ formal design review and acting as an independent reviewer of other engineers’ designs Self-motivated, with an aptitude to problem solve and drive difficult issues to conclusion ·Ability to coordinate day to day technical activities, liaising closely with the Project Engineering Lead, Lead Hardware engineer & other disciplines ·Experience of liaising with Manufacturing/ Production colleagues and external suppliers of key components and assemblies ·Excellent communication (oral & written) & interpersonal skills Experience in writing technical reports/ documentation Desirable ·Previous experience of designing or working with Superheterodyne Receivers. Qualifications ·2:1 honours degree or better in Electronics Engineering or related STEM subject Due to the nature of this work, Candidates must have a current UK passport and able to achieve UK Security Clearance – SC level. Some travel to other customers and/or QuEST sites in the UK depending on requirements.
