Overview

The Care Manager is responsible for the management and profitability of the Home in accordance with MMCG policies and procedures and all external regulatory requirements. This will include the management of all staff, efficient and effective day to day running of the Home, marketing and promotional activities and developing exceptional personalised service for every service user. The main aim will be to ensure service users’ well-being by treating them with the dignity and respect, which their age and experience of life deserves. To meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs with tolerance and to respect their privacy, independence, choices and personal space in a safe and compliant environment. To develop a culture that supports the Company Mission, gives purpose and enjoyment for the service users and welcomes and provides reassurance for their families and friends. Principal Duties Business Development To develop a business plan for the purpose of planning and implementing activities that will advance the Home and achieve the highest occupancy rates in line with MMCG guidelines and Company Mission.To ensure all budgetary controls are maintained in accordance with MMCG’S financial proceduresTo adhere to all company policiesTo market the business in line with MMCG guidelines and establish and maintain good relations with the community and other service providers (Multi-disciplinary teams?)To negotiate fees with private clients, Local Authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Top Up’s to ensure maximum profitTo ensure the highest standards are maintained relating to the maintenance of the grounds, building and equipment, to create a desirable impression and deliver a safe environmentTo manage all complaints in line with the Complaints Policy and ensure senior managers are informed of these and any other event listed within Regulatory notifications. To implement and maintain all requirements specified in Regulations, including storage and distribution of medicines. To oversee the implementation of systems of working which enable Health and Safety legislative requirements to be met including risk assessments, fire records, COSHH files etc. To identify, initiate and conduct investigations in line with company policy and proceduresTo report all incidents to the Regional Director and complete appropriate forms and documentation in line with company policy and/or legislationTo organise 4 week period duty rotas, at least a fortnight in advance of commencement of the rota to meet staffing and budget needs within agreed staffing levels to contracted hoursTo ensure all staff, service user and other MIS are kept up to dateTo communicate regularly with other managers and support staff to further develop the Home Quality Assurance To work with the Quality Assurance Team to ensure all quality standards and procedures are adhered to and to promote a collaborative approach of continuous development that consistently supports the MMCG’s Mission Understand the importance of correct record management and own personal responsibilities in maintaining this through passwords, storage of documentation, and sharing information ( both paper based or on electronic systems).Report breaches of records security to line manager or the Caldicott Guardian.To work within the company's Information Governance policies in order maintain security of personal and sensitive dataTo be proactive in information management including identifying errors and omission in records and personal data, informing relevant persons promptly to reduce risk of harm or inappropriate care and treatment, and responding to external recommendations to improve data quality. To provide an environment where individual team members are motivated to perform to their full potential and to work together as a team To effectively manage the implementation of changeTo develop a solutions focused culture based on sound problem solving and decision making techniques To promote good communication by means of staff meetings, written and verbal reports and encourage openness at all levelsTo set challenging SMART objectives to drive the performance and growth of the businessTo plan and organise own and other’s workload effectivelyTo Implement a Personal Learning & Development Plan (PLDP) that contains Continuous Professional Development (CPD) including mandatory training, ensures an excellent knowledge of developments in the care industry and embraces feedback on performance Staff To recruit high quality care home staff in line with MMCG’s Recruitment Policy.To develop all staff to carry out their duties and responsibilities to the highest standard by providing comprehensive induction, mandatory and on-going development training and coaching.To manage and review performance through probation periods, management practices, supervision sessions, training records and an annual appraisalTo monitor and record staff attendance and performance, deal with disciplinary matters and action formal disciplinary procedures through the appropriate channels To ensure talent is recognised, rewarded and developedTo ensure all staff holidays are taken within the holiday year, whilst maintaining optimum cover Provide excellent serviceTo ensure the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of every Service user is recognised, assessed, appropriately documented and applied within the legal and company framework. This will involve regular planned reviews, assessments and formulation of care plans for all users of the services in liaison with other professional workers. To regularly meet and involve Service users in decision making about activities, life style and matters in the Home which may affect them. To provide support, information and regular reviews for relatives Ensure all visitors feel welcome and support and respect the needs and safety of all service users Person Specification: Professional Qualifications etc. Leadership and management qualification Experience Minimum of 2 years management experience working within a care setting, within the last 5 years Knowledge e.g. H&S at Work Act, Care Standards Act, Budgets and Profit and Loss General Ability to work under pressureTo promote equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practices
