Overview

PERSONAL TAX SENIOR A highly reputable firm with a long standing history, which has grown to become one of the UK’s leading independent accounting practices, with nearly 100 staff across 3 offices in the UK. They are now seeking a Personal Tax Senior for their growing team to assume responsibility for the conduct of the office’s income tax return work and assisting in the provision of other professional services in connection with designated clients. Personal taxation – planning and control Attend to specifically assigned client’s taxation affairs (including trust returns). On a timely basis, identify priorities and review/prepare work in accordance with Inland Revenue and Firm’s deadlines. Liaise with clients regarding taxation work to be carried out by the Firm. Prepare/agree time/cost budgets. Where appropriate attend planning meetings with the partner. Confirm approach and agreement of taxation work. Liaise with client and where appropriate agree timetables. Liaise with partners to plan staff allocation. Liaise with partners to keep them fully informed of progress of matters. Personal taxation - fieldwork and completion Supervise/carry out fieldwork in accordance with the Firm’s recognised procedures. Supervise/complete the fieldwork according to the pre-determined timetable. Allocate, supervise and review the work of assistants. Where the fieldwork is not progressing in line with expected timetable, liaise with manager/partner. Ensure that each personal tax client’s affairs are dealt with accurately and that correspondence, returns and advice given comply with legal and taxation requirements. Perform personal tax planning and prepare reports as directed. Agree the final draft with client/partner. As directed, review/complete personal tax work, subject only to outstanding points that require partner attention. Arrange the preparation, completion and distribution of final personal taxation computations and returns. Ensure signed personal taxation returns are obtained. When required, the completion of notices of elections, etc, should be arranged. Ensure that personal tax software is up to date, fully operational and properly maintained. Ensure the effective installation and use of taxation related software, including books on screen, etc. Prepare staff evaluation form for conduct of own work together with budget to actual time reconciliation. Prepare staff evaluation form for assistants. Communication Liaise with the manager/partner on submission of the bill to highlight areas of additional work for separate billing to the client. Bring to the attention of the client the whole range of services offered by the Firm and Hawsons Wealth Management. Keep managers/partners advised of important matters or developments relating to client affairs on a timely basis. Administration Confer with the partners to review staffing requirements. Review records and after consultation with manager/partner, press clients to submit overdue records and returns. Client billing - to actively prepare for processing client bills by liaising with partners to ensure that the Firm’s monthly billing timetable is met.
