Overview

Fair Ways is a not for profit organisation where we pride ourselves on getting the best from our staff and young people which we encourage through training, engagement and delivery. We are keen to hire two Residential Support Workers to join our teams based in Brecon, South Wales. This role is working as part of our residential service providing crisis intervention care and support to vulnerable children and young people. You will be working on a rota basis; Day 1: 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. with a sleep in Day 2: 7.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. with a sleep in Day 3: 7.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. Day 4 to 7 off If the hours don’t suit you, please don’t let this put you off - please apply for a Bank position where you can build your own rota Job Responsibilities Working as a Residential Support Worker, you will work under an experienced management team in the mentoring and educating of children who can display challenging behaviour. You could be involved in any or all of the following: Contributing, as part of the team, to the planning and decision-making process within the home Managing challenging behaviour resulting from complex needs, and recognising the need to intervene using positive handling strategies, in order to ensure the safety of our young people and colleagues Contributing to the monitoring of good practice within the home and ensuring safe working practices within company Child Protection procedures and All Wales Child Protection Procedures 2008 Ensuring you complete daily tasks consistent with the smooth running of the home, such as handovers, case recording, updating care plans and risk assessments and ensuring all information is recorded appropriately and accurately Personal Skills Experience in this field of work is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided. What we ask of you is that you are passionate about working with children and keeping them safe, have an understanding of some therapeutic approaches and can make a house feel like a home. You should be methodical, reliable, proactive, possess good communication skills, can work as part of a team and have a positive attitude. A Level 3 QCF in Children & Young People’s workforce is required, or the willingness to work towards this. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.
