Biomedical and Nurse Survey Interviewers Location: - Swansea, Home-based with travel Remuneration: Expected earnings equivalent to around £20 per hour on average, with enhancements for working in certain metropolitan areas Contract: Freelance (Other-Worker status) We are recruiting nurses, midwives and related healthcare professionals for community-based biomedical data collection on health-related studies. Opportunities are available in areas across the UK. However, we are particularly interested in filling roles in the following geographical areas: Carlisle, Swansea, York, Lincoln, Peterborough, Norwich, Ashford, Canterbury, Thanet, Croydon, Guildford, Plymouth, Wells in Somerset. The Opportunity Social and health research has the power to improve lives. As one of our Bio/Nurse Survey Interviewers, you'll get to know this better than most. After all, when you're out in the community meeting new people and using your talents in a different way, you'll be helping to gather the research data that informs the social and health policies of the future. You will work on a variety of research projects requiring biophysical data collection visits, usually, in people's homes. This biophysical data collection will include some of the following: Administering a computer-assisted interview which may ask questions around health and illness, education, housing, income, family, leisure and exercise, diet and nutrition Undertaking physical measurements, for example: blood pressure; waist and hip circumference; height; weight and body fat percentage; grip strength; lung function; blood, urine, saliva and hair samples Recording information on prescribed medication taken by participants The Skills You'll Need We're looking for: Friendly and courteous people who like meeting others Good organisational skills A good standard of written and spoken English The right to work in the UK Current registration as a healthcare practitioner, on a related professional practice register (e.g. Registered Nurse/Midwife/Paramedic/Nursing Assistant/Operating Dept. Assistant/Phlebotomist etc) with proven competence and confidence in taking venous blood samples within current role or the last twelve months. A full UK driving licence and access to an appropriately insured car. You must be able to provide evidence of your current immunity levels to Hepatitis B and be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Check.
