PLC Software Engineer – Staffordshire – TIA Portal – Special Purpose Machinery - £35-40k bonus Client already has a full order book, Opportunity suits a PLC Software Engineer with at least 3-5 years experience looking to grow and develop into a Senior/Lead Engineer, limited site work, opportunity to get involved in robotics Samuel Frank Associates require a PLC Software Engineer join a special purpose machine manufacturer in East Staffordshire. The successful PLC Software Engineer will have a demonstrable track record in writing Siemens PLC software for special purpose machinery. The client offers the chance to work on a variety of bespoke machine applications in a relaxed and friendly environment. Key technical areas of interest include; PLC programming experience with Siemens TIA Portal (the ability to program from scratch is preferred but candidates with good code enhancement/modification experience could also be suitable) Ideally have good understanding of safety circuits (safety relays, failsafe PLCs) PLC Software Engineers with experience of the following will be considered favourably; Robot cell knowledge Setup and optimise servo/inverter drives using Siemens Starter Tool Technical documentation writing skills Good understanding of electrical standards for machinery design (e.g. EN 60204) You’ll also be involved in full machine commissioning from power-up right through to completion as well as final machine commissioning at customer sites (mainly UK). The client estimates approximately 4-6 weeks/year will be spent on sites throughout the year. A 12 week job for them in the workshop may take 2-3 days onsite to commission for example. The role is commutable from Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Walsall, Cannock, Tamworth, Burton-on-Trent and Nuneaton.
