Position Title: Cleaner (Custodian) Reference: London-2020-017 Opening Date: 17th March 2020 Closing Date: Open until filled Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week Salary: £26,539 gross starting salary per annum (consisting of a basic salary of £22,560, London Weighting of £2,100 and a bonus of £1,879). Working from a daily/weekly schedule, your cleaning duties within the Embassy will include: - Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and waxing floors - Shampooing carpets and upholstery - Cleaning internal windows and all internal glazing - Disinfecting and deodorising lavatories, commodes and other restroom facilities You will also be required to clean our government-owned residential properties pre-occupancy and after occupancy, including vacuuming, dusting and cleaning cookers and all other types of domestic appliances. In order to travel between the Embassy and these residential properties, you must hold a valid full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driving licence and, as necessary, be able to safely and confidently operate a van (class B) in and around central London. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified. EDUCATION: Completion of elementary school or host country equivalent is required. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in commercial/residential property cleaning. LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge of written and spoken English is required. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of current cleaning methods and materials. Knowledge of the safe handling of industry standard cleaning chemicals. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: To be able to perform all aspects of the cleaning required to the highest standard, in both internal offices, exterior estate work and residential property cleaning. A current, full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required. Must have the ability to safely and confidently operate a van (class B) in and around central London. Must be able to confidently work from height (e.g. ladders and working platforms up to 45 feet and over water in a boat/floating vessel). This role will involve lifting 25 lbs (approx. 11.3 kg). Must be able to work as part of a team, follow instructions and possess the ability to work mostly unsupervised. Having good customer care skills are essential.
