Overview
We are looking to recruit a capable and caring Senior Support Worker to lead our team of highly motivated staff to provide support to 3 tenants with profound and multiple learning disabilities living in a shared flat. This is a fantastic move into management where you have the opportunity to work alongside a Senior Manager and hone your leadership skills. As well as providing direct care and support, the Senior Support Worker will work with the Supported Living Manager to ensure that the service maximises positive outcomes and achieves the highest standards of service delivery, contract and CQC compliance. Your highly valued role will include the following duties (but not limited to): Supervising, coaching and deploying a team of staff Taking responsibility for the service in the absence of the manager Ensuring that caring and respectful personalised support is provided at all times Providing Key Worker support to individuals Organising and participating in PCP reviews Promoting a dynamic culture of active support and reablement Providing high quality direct personal care and support Achieving positive outcomes for all service users This role will require flexibility across the week and will involve working on shifts which include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will be expected to fully understand the needs of all service users and to act as a professional role model, coaching and mentoring staff. A high level of motivation and personal commitment is required along with demonstrable skills and experience in assessing needs and planning support, deploying and supervising staff and working effectively with stakeholders. You will ensure that staff encourage and support people to express their aspirations, make choices, develop skills and actively participate in planning the support they need. To achieve this you will also be expected to work professionally alongside Care Managers and health professionals and to communicate positively with families, carers and friends. You will support the Registered Service Manager to ensure that the service conforms with CQC essential standards of care and all regulatory requirements. You must have at least one year’s experience of providing care and support to people with a learning disability and/or autism. You will need to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop good quality support plans. Previous supervisory or management experience is not essential but you must exhibit the ability to coordinate staff effectively and supervise their work in a supportive and professional manner. A relevant vocational qualification in health or social care is desirable (such as NVQ or H&SC Diplomas).
