Overview

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES program and develop exciting, innovative and commercially successful calendar of events for The O2 arena, consolidating our position as the world’s busiest arena; proactively develop, negotiate and deliver the strongest possible Music, Entertainment, Sport and Comedy content into the arena; provide support to the Director of Programming in developing new content, with a particular focus on securing new business with first time arena clients; and develop and maintain successful and productive relationships with all key clients. MAIN ACTIVITIES delivering the arena’s annual budget in terms of the number of performances and genre mix, prioritising shows with roll dates and residencies whilst ensuring that shows capable of generating the highest event contribution are prioritised in peak months and at weekends; negotiating the best venue hire deals possible with promoter clients to ensure maximum profitability of events; report to the Director of Programming on a weekly basis as to the number of performances in the diary versus the target; deliver multi-year contracts in line with agreed targets; maintain excellent relationships with promoter, agent and manager clients; secure bookings with new, first time arena promoters; ascertain what the client hopes to achieve in terms of venue format, ticket sales, number of shows and marketing reach; research previous productions and secure references as appropriate; guide new promoters through venue booking, contracting and pre/on-sale process, ensure that they adhere to The O2’s marketing, sponsorship and financial requirements; draw up a detailed plan with the promoter and relevant Venue and Ticketing manager to include a timeline of production and ticketing deadlines that the promoter must reach; ensure that client understands and agrees to adhere to each deadline and update the Director of Programming on a regular basis regarding the progress of each booking against this agreed schedule; be the point of contact between the promoter client and the venue’s project team, leading the team of Operations, Marketing and Ticketing managers to ensure a successful event for the client; reporting to the client on a regular basis as to the progress of each internal team against pre-agreed deadlines; ensure timely payment of all deposits and venue hire payments; negotiate with design, marketing, courier, award, aftershow space and gift suppliers; generate additional income through up selling the facilities of the venue, maintaining and where possible, increasing the overall profitability of each specific event type; work with the Marketing Department on all up and coming events and develop solutions to maximise tickets sales for these events; be aware of market trends and competitive elements within the industry, including other venues and potential clients and to utilise this knowledge to develop the appropriate sales strategy proactively securing future business; work alongside the Director of Programming in running the weekly European Booking call, assisting other AEG venues where possible in securing touring content; design and produce the Venue Rate card for distribution to all promoter clients; provide and promote the highest level of customer service; ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practice as required by current legislation and the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and practices; ensure that all relevant information is communicated speedily and accurately in a way that ensures that the information is received and easily understood; ensure that all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilised to minimise waste and reduce costs; undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable request as requested by the Director of Programming and any member of the Senior Leadership Team; and understand the importance of Equality & Diversity in the work place. KEY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Essential demonstrable experience of sales delivery in a high profile music or venue, strong track record of securing high quality content; demonstrable experience of finding first-time promoter clients that are capable of promoting at arena level in the UK; relevant high calibre industry contacts to ensure prolonged success for the venue; full IT Package knowledge e.g.: Excel, PowerPoint and Access preferable; positive and tenacious with a “can do” attitude; team player who enjoys working in a high achieving environment; high resilience in dealing with promoters, agents and managers ensuring the right result for the business whilst maintaining a positive relationship with the client; and commitment to delivering the best. Desirable experience in delivering presentations to and reporting into to director level; and working knowledge of Bylder Package.
