Overview
DevOps Lead Main Purpose of Role To manage the internal DevOps team, responsible for setting the technical direction, owning the roadmap and ensuring the right skills and teams’ structure is in place to continue delivering and maintaining bespoke software applications for the business within schedules and agreed business priorities. Owner of the End to End technical stack including backend, frontend, databases and APIs. Responsible for ensuring the platforms are conformant with the Enterprise Architecture and Data Security principles. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Security To support and contribute actively to health and safety, environmental, business continuity and information security arrangements that meets our obligations to our customers DevOps Delivery Responsibility for design and agile delivery of DevOps cloud-based projects ensuring the team works proactively with wider stakeholders to the agreed schedule. Works closely with the PMO function providing high level monitoring, recording and reporting of all aspects of on-going portfolio of agreed projects and in-life support. To manage all key stakeholders and stakeholder groups who are connected to the delivery of the project to ensure expectations are managed, critical decisions are made, key dependencies and requirements are addressed, and individual project delivery progress is clearly understood. Report against targeted delivery and maintain tools and systems in line with project delivery plans to demonstrate progress to stakeholders Team Management Manage an agile software development team made of software engineers, business analysts and QA that gather requirements, designs, develops, document and support in life in-house bespoke software applications for internal users, clients and partners. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development Planning and Roadmap Management To produce and maintain clear and achievable plans and roadmaps ensuring the scope, objectives and resourcing requirements have been considered. To plan and delivery IT projects ensuring resources are aligned and allocated accordingly, identifying any conflicts, risks or issues as appropriate To manage the impact of change within the project and on the project plans in terms of scope, timescales, costs & quality ensuring that the impacts are clearly understood and agreed by key stakeholders DevOps Support Ensure operational monitoring and alerting of the DevOps Tech Stack is in place to the appropriate business criticality level. Ensuring InfoSec best practices are followed, including vulnerability patching and support penetration testing. Experience (technical, managerial, industry) Required Experience running software development teams, architecting and delivering cloud-based solutions working in an DevOps/Agile environment e.g. Scrum, Kanban. Experience with Source Code Version control e.g. Git and Product backlog management e.g. Jira/Azure DevOps. Experience with Continue integration and automation tooling e.g. Jenkins or Circle CI Experience working with Public Cloud: AWS, Azure or GCP and managing a team working on the full stack – including frontend, backend, API, Databases, logging etc. Experience in delivering full software development life cycle projects in a dynamic environment, from project inception to deployment and in-life support. Good knowledge relating to relational databases, frontend and backend development, automation, security, stability and scalability in public cloud environments. Desired Experience with Azure, ELK or similar logging stack Experience in Telecoms Education level / Qualifications (professional, vocational) Required Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics or a similar engineering / science-based discipline. Desired ITIL V3 Skills / Knowledge Required Demonstrated strong team and stakeholder management experience Excellent oral and written communication skills able to engage with all level of staff and stakeholders Strong planning and organizational skills, Ability to prepare plans and anticipate change. Excellent knowledge and range of skills in IT technologies, Agile/DevOps techniques and comprehensive knowledge of product development and deployment life and software support cycles.
