Home Bargains is one of the UK's fastest growing and most exciting retailers with the opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to join us as Transport Health and Safety Manager. The Transport Health and Safety Manager is responsible for managing health and safety for the transport department, including Vehicle Maintenance Unit. The Transport Health and Safety Manager will help to identify, co-ordinate and drive improvements in safety and will require working closely and collaboratively at all levels within the transport management team. The role will also involve the review of protective and preventative measures in order to minimise occupational health issues and risk of accidents and injury as well as identifying, co-ordinating and driving improvements in safety, quality and productivity. This role is based at our Liverpool Head Office but may require travel to our Regional Distribution Centre in Wiltshire. Job Description Competitive salary 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year including bank and public holiday allowance rising to 6.6 weeks upon 5 years' service Contributable Company pension scheme Onsite subsidised Health and Fitness Centre Subsidised canteen 10% store discount Access to social and sporting events Job Overview Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health ensuring adherence and regular review and communication of all health and safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas of health, safety and welfare at work and has appropriate protective and preventative measures in place Complete and review risk assessments for work equipment and transport operations Co-ordinate the development of health and safety policies, safe systems of work and procedures and ensure the completion of tasks All accidents are documented and investigated as appropriate and any identified improvements are implemented Ensure that a planned programme of safety inspections and audits is carried out and employees are aware of their responsibilities Organise and carry out HS training and ensure that any statutory requirements relating to HS training are met throughout the business Minimum Criteria To Apply NEBOSH Diploma or relevant degree Significant health and safety management experience of HGV transport and distribution Demonstrable record of performance, productivity and service delivery Sound knowledge of all the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) applicable legislation and any developments that affect our industry, especially CDM, LOLER, PUWER, Working at Height, Risk Assessment, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH, Work place transport, etc. A confident communicator with excellent organisational and problem solving skills and a real 'can do' attitude Experience of working in a high volume, fast paced business is essential About The Company TJ Morris Limited trading as Home Bargains is a privately owned family run discount retailer selling top brands at the lowest possible price on the UK high street.
