Teaching Assistant - SEMH School, Portsmouth

Academics are seeking passionate and hard working Teaching Assistants to work in a secondary school in Portsmouth which caters for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). They are looking for suitable candidates who are available for daily and short term supply as well as long term contracts. The school focuses on delivering work related learning including vocational subjects including mechanics, catering, construction, animal care and hair and beauty. You must possess a calm manner, be flexible and have the ability to think on your feet. Applicants will ideally: Have recent experience of supporting in a school setting, ideally within an SEN/SEMH school Have a good level of understanding in literacy and numeracy and be confident in using IT. Have experience of working with children with SEN/challenging behaviour Be able to show good behaviour management skills, whilst remaining calm. Be available full-time Ideally be based in the Portsmouth area or happy to travel for work. You will be required to possess a child workforce related DBS on the DBS Update Service or be willing to pay for a one DBS to be processed.
