Role and Responsibilities You will be working with children with autism and severe learning disabilities within a residential home and their purpose-built school. Your typical day will include: helping them get ready for school preparing and having meals with them cleaning and housekeeping completing daily activity records meal planning and shopping providing personal care and emotional support helping in the school after school activities off site getting the children ready for bed Candidate Requirements There are full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time (minimum of 22.5 hours per week) positions available. You need to be able commit to working early and late shifts which are 7am to 3pm and 2:30pm to 10pm. The role includes weekend and bank holiday working in both the full and part time positions and you are required to work every other weekend. You will need to be of a resilient nature to deal with the associated challenging behaviours displayed by children and young people with severe learning disabilities. Specialist teams will support you to learn ways to help manage this behaviour. You must be willing to provide personal care where needed. You must be committed to gaining the Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare during the first 18 months of your employment. You need to hold a full driving licence. Salary £9.32 per hour rising to £9.67 per hour upon qualifying. You will be joining a community spirited organisation which has an extremely supportive management team.
