BUYER - Manufacturing/Engineering (6 Month FTC)

Our client has a strong customer focus and support network. The Role: Placing purchase orders on time to meet customer delivery plan. Progressing orders and resolving supply problems. Carry out monthly meetings with key suppliers (conference call/face to face/Skype) on cost, quality and delivery. Where necessary, travel to suppliers to carry out these meetings. Generate agenda and reports on suppliers visits/meetings. Prepare supporting information for cost negotiation with suppliers, including usage. Information, competitive quotations and comparisons, engineering data/drawings. Annual spend with supplier. Participate in supplier negotiation at every opportunity, to ensure best price and delivery lead times are achieved consistently. Where necessary manage supplier change/transition while ensuring continuity of supply is maintained. Active in all department projects. The Ideal Person KEY VALUE ADDING DELIVERABLES: Active in overall improvement of customer OTD Ensuring continuity of supply to the shop floor Efficient and effective supplier management THE PERSON TO FILL THE VACANCY MUST HAVE: Confidence Excellent written and spoken English Good organisation skills with attention to detail Computer literate in MS Office especially Excel Good working knowledge of MRP Be willing to travel over three site facility and to suppliers SHOULD HAVE: Ability to be assertive Customer service skills Experience of setting up Kanban and Direct To Line feeds Be able to multi-task Experience of working for an international company Experience of liaising with an external supply base successfully COULD HAVE: Experience of working within a global supply base Experience of supplier negotiation and development of suppliers Experience of working with high precision complex parts IDEAL CANDIDATE IS LIKELY TO Have good spoken & written English, a "Can Do" attitude and be ready for a challenge.
