We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join us on a fixed term basis at our Sittingbourne site. Benefits The salary offered for this role is competitive and makes up part of BBI’s attractive benefits package, which includes: 5% contributory pension scheme Life Assurance Private health care scheme Generous annual leave package totalling 32 days (inclusive of bank holidays) Cycle to work scheme The Role As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for all washing and cleaning of required laboratory ware for all laboratories and providing support for Laboratories through calibration of equipment and stocking and maintaining required levels of consumables. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to; Write & review COSHH assessments for the chemicals used within the lab areas and ensure safe practise and the correct use of PPE. Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role, including training development for use of equipment within the cleaning washroom facility. Carry out stock checks for machine chemicals, cleaning products and consumables that are used, manage the stock and order sufficient - not excessive quantities. To ensure that laboratory and corridor areas are clean and presentable, no build-up of used consumables and equipment which requires cleaning. To ensure that lab ware is clean and available for use by other laboratory staff. To strive to improve the appearance of the laboratory areas, any recurring issues which arise are to be reported to the Production Team Leader so that they can be addressed. To ensure daily checks of fridges and freezers are carried out, results recorded and non-conformances reported to the Production Team Leader. To ensure sufficient stocks of depyrogenated vials and lab ware are maintained, monitored and recorded. To control the supply of depyrogenated items to other laboratory staff and ensure no delays occur to project schedules due to late supply. Preparation of buffers and reagents used for cleaning lab areas and labware. Calibration of key laboratory equipment, including balances and pH meters. Assist production and quality control departments with environmental testing of lab areas, laminar flow cabinets and MBSCs. Requirements To be successful in this role you will need an interest in pursuing a career in the scientific industry. A degree is not required but experience in a similar environment would be advantageous.
