Your new role Key Objectives Responsible for the finance and financial control of the entire office Advises and supports the Manager team and operational staff by providing and interpreting analytical information to enable effective decision making Provides support in ensuring that the rules, principles and the internal control requirements are met Ensure the Business meets all its financial reporting obligations Responsibilities and Accountabilities General Accounting Make sure transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner Justification of the Balance Sheet figures by performing balance sheet reconciliations Prepare all month end tasks such as accruals, prepayments and closing of ledgers Monitor and report off-balance sheet commitments Be prepared to develop/apply the technical accounting knowledge obtained in their professional training to ensure the correct treatment of financial transactions Payroll & Tax Supervise the SAGE Payroll and payroll processing duties ensuring the appropriate working rules with respect to pay are applied and provide cover as necessary Supervise all aspects of Pension, Sick Pay, Life Insurance and Personal Injury payments Ensure CIS Tax is correctly applied by verifying sub-contractors with the HMRC, issuing payment Certificates, and filing the CIS returns in accordance with the deadlines Prepare quarterly VAT returns and associated monthly EC Sales and Intrastat submissions Utilise VAT knowledge to advise BU's on VAT implications on certain transactions Prepare the Corporation Tax information to Tax Advisors for review and submission Financial Planning & Analysis Be actively involved with the annual budget preparation process Regular analysis of KPI's such as invoice lag, debtors, variances and productive hours Analyse and explain overhead spend and variances to budget Provide analysis to forecast the performance of the business against budget to aid decision making Data mining and manipulation to help with the points mentioned above Cash Management Evaluate the credit worthiness of new and existing clients Make sure invoicing is always maximised Ensure effective and efficient credit control Make sure the setting up and payment of suppliers are performed in accordance with our control procedures and agreed payment terms Be responsible for the cash management of the Company including the management of the bank account and any credit/debit cards Perform daily Bank Reconciliations Control and Reporting To control overhead spend to be kept within budget Manage the statutory year end audit by providing the necessary information What you'll need to succeed Person Specification Qualifications and training CIMA or other relevant accounting qualification with at least 5 years post qualification experience Skills and Experience Industry Experience Prior experience in Project Accounting essential IT Strong IT skills in particular, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of using an ERP would be beneficial Organisation and Management Able to plan and deliver projects within agreed timeframes Excellent organisational skills Experience of managing people Ability to influence others A self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also be able to work effectively as part of a team.
