Assistant Production Engineer Location: Thurrock Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 p/a Overview: We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Production Engineer to work for our client at their facility in Thurrock. The key purpose of the Assistant Production Engineer is to support the Production Engineer to deliver maximum plant reliability, flexibility, availability and overall plant performance in line with high standards of Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental performance. Key Duties: Implementing the company’s health, safety and environmental management policies and actively participating in company/site HSE initiatives including the HSE forum activities, including procedure reviews on a periodic basis Identifying and taking proactive measures to improve Plant Performance shortfalls and augment engineering solutions. Analyse data and provide feedback for plant predictive maintenance activities Assisting the Production Engineer with planning the daily Production Day Team Maintenance and Permitry activities with the Production and Engineering Departments to ensure maximum plant reliability & flexibility is achieved to high standards of quality, safety and environmental performance Carrying out responsibilities as defined in the company’s Safety rules and associated procedures Carry out all Safety Controller functions up to, and including, 400kV safety switching and isolation and Interacting with external companies and providers Act as Production outage assistant coordinator, responsible for assisting the Production Engineer with the planning and execution of Permitry and Production requirements for all site outages Supporting other UK stations if the business needs arise To be flexible and to change working patterns were necessary in order to meet the needs of the business Participate in the development of employees Providing additional support as and when required, particularly in dynamic conditions such as unit start-up or trip Act as Stand-in Team Leader during the absence of all other Shift Team Leaders Carry out assigned Production Engineer duties in his absence Building and maintaining a culture of team work Participate in Safety Controller Meetings on a basis as determined by the Operations Manager Carry out Safety Rules audits and feedback findings Providing assistance with station chemistry requirements, including dosing regimens, analysis and results and liaising with the station chemistry partner Deliver training and authorise personnel for tasks related to company Safety Rules Undertake project work to completion Qualifications & Skills: The individual will need to be self-motivated with exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. The individual must be suited to a culture which is entrepreneurial, fast paced, value-driven, and with very high corporate performance and ethical standards. Very comfortable working in a lean structure, should be highly customer focused, possess strong ethical and moral standards and be willing to assume significant personal accountability. Key characteristics of the successful candidate: The ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility during dynamic situations Completer/Finisher able to deliver results on schedule Potential for promotion within the Company, to Production Engineer/Shift Team Leader or other position Affable and flexible personality Ability to work with all levels of the organisation Excellent work ethic Detail oriented Excellent verbal/written communication skills Familiar with a number of computer applications Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, flexible and committed attitude Communication and motivational skills Education & Qualifications: Minimum of HNC in an Engineering discipline with a high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge (Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience) A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement, NEBOSH or IOSH qualified is preferable Experience Knowledge of power generation operations and maintenance associated with Gas/Steam turbines, boilers & balance of plant, computer aided Maintenance Management applications and Safety Rules At least 5 years in power generation industry Operations and Maintenance with gas turbines at a supervisory or senior technician level. Authorized and experienced as Safety Controller/Coordinator/SAP to HV and Plant preferable.
