Nursery Chef - Finchley Central, London Salary: 22,000 per annum depending on experience/qualifications The Company Our client is a privately owned and family run, registered childrens day nursery located in a quiet residential street in Finchley Central, London. The nursery is within walking distance of the beautiful grounds of Avenue House, Victoria Park and Finchley Central underground station. The Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chef who is highly committed in providing young children with the very best healthy and nutritious food. They will also have to be keen to progress and develop their own knowledge and skills. Role Responsibilities: To prepare and discuss menus as agreed with the Nursery Manager/Deputy, observing childrens special dietary needs, Healthy Eating where appropriate To order fresh food and other foodstuff supplies from Preferred Suppliers weekly on a set date required To regularly monitor performance of suppliers and to check that suppliers remain competitive, ensuring that the Nursery Manager is kept informed accordingly To regularly monitor stock control and to inform the Nursery Manager of any discrepancies To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "sell-by" dates for any reason To account for all monies issued and receipts obtained To prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, and promptly in accordance with agreed mealtimes To prepare special diet meals as needed, and as directed through appropriate Diet Sheets and ensure all food is labelled highlighting the special diet. To liaise with Nursery Staff to keep abreast of any changes in childrens dietary requirements To ensure timely and efficient cleaning of all dishes and cooking utensils To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness on the kitchen and food storage are as at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations To ensure management and implementation of safe working procedures and practices in accordance with Health Safety legislation, Safer food Better Business To ensure safe operation and maintenance, as needed, of all kitchen equipment. To remove from use and to report to the Nursery Manager any item of equipment found to be faulty or deemed unsafe To ensure formal monitoring and recording of refrigerator and freezer temperatures in accordance with Environmental Health requirements, and to ensure their verification with a calibrated thermometer, according to procedures To assist the co-operate the Nursery Manager/Deputy and Third in charge in the resolution of any complaints concerning the catering service To undertake other duties, as may be necessary from time-to-time To direct the Kitchen Assistant in the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen area To communicate competently and confidently during any inspections To attend staff meetings/training as and when required Essential Experience, Qualifications and Skills: Catering Qualification Food Safety certificate Experience and knowledge of cooking healthy food Important Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
