Overview
Becoming a Project Engineer with Capita Secure Solutions & Services What you'll be doing: Overseeing the installation, integration and configuration of computer-based communication systems at both hardware and software levels on both server and client platforms. Troubleshooting computer-based communication systems at both hardware and software levels. Writing, reviewing and updating technical documentation. Working to set project deadlines and reporting any difficulties to achieve delivery milestones accordingly. Adhere to all Health and Safety practices, rules and regulations and report any issues to your health and safety representative The role can involve an amount of autonomous work but a team of peers is available for support if this is required. Many projects will involve working with a larger team of engineers, possibly under the direction of a Lead Project Engineer or other senior departmental member. The role can involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communications. What we're looking for: Communications, Electronics or Computer Science Diploma and/or equivalent professional certification in IT. Microsoft Server Architecture build and configuration experience. Demonstrable understanding of the installation, configuration and fault-finding of Windows Client and Server operating systems. Knowledge of core networking principles such as TCP/IP with a view to supporting a CISCO Switch and Router based environment. A good understanding of Domain Architecture and Network-attached storage, configuration and management. In addition, knowledge or an understanding of virtualised server environments, WSUS critical updates, analogue / digital telephony, installation practices, Windows Deployment Services , Active Directory management and database environment like MS SQL server would be advantageous.
