Support Worker Full & Part time

MacIntyre ,
Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
Salary: £8.75 an hour plus fantastic benefits

Overview

Are you the knitting queen of Milton Keynes? Or do you prefer pub meals and watching the football? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them with such activities? You'll join us as a Support Worker across two of our services in Crownhill, Milton Keynes. We have full time (38 hpw) and part time positions available. Outline You will play a key part in assisting the 7 people we support to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community. Activities might include holidays, pubs & clubs, outings, football, crafts and knitting. We are looking for active, fun-loving people who are willing to learn new things to support people of mixed ages and sexes, who enjoy a variety of interests and activities. You need to be able to promote independence whilst recognising and reacting to changes in health needs for the people in these services. Their ages range from early 30s to late 50s. Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people require help with intimate care or medication and there is also some palliative/end of life care in one of the services. We will provide you with full specialist training, with day-to-day help and advice from your head of service (frontline manager) and other senior practitioners. You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including earlies and lates, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. Core shifts are (early) 07:30 - 15:00 and (late) 15:00 - 22:00 but shift times can be flexible to suit the needs of the people supported at the service. This really is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference to someone's life. What we need from you We are ideally looking for people with experience in the health and social care world as some of the people we support have very complex needs, but what's important is that you share our values, have a positive approach and are willing to learn. People join us from many different disciplines from experienced care workers and healthcare assistants to trainees or people looking for a new career. It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive the service mini-bus. About us We are an Award winning Charity that has the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behavior Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability.
